The new C2-5000 Series of Universal
Scalers is the first in Vine's range of 'high end' products. Utilising
the latest in CORIO 2 (C2) Scaling technology, the C2-5000 Series
offer high performance and great versatility at highly competitive
prices.
The C2-5000 Series consists of two units, the C2-5100 and the C2-5200.
Designed for numerous display applications within the Live Events,
Conferencing, Post Production and Broadcast industries, they offer
fantastic flexibility. Enabling seamless integration between video
signals of almost any format and resolution, these 'multiple product
- one box solutions' also offer carefully selected features that enable
you to create a multitude of display applications.
How are they used?
The C2-5000 Series go far beyond being just high performance Video
Scalers, Up-Convertors, Down Convertors and Multi-Format Seamless
Switchers. They are also a Standards Convertor, Chromakeyer, Lumakeyer,
Picture-in-Picture Device, HDTV Convertor, Frame Synchronizer, Time
Base Corrector, Aspect Ratio Convertor, Universal Image Genlock and

Unparalleled Quality as 'standard':-
Using our latest high level proprietary CORIO® 2 Technology Conversion
Engine, the C2-5000 Series of Universal Scalers aim to give you superior
functionality that will enhance the quality of your production. The
C2-5000 Series employ progressive and interlaced video support as
well as advanced motion compensation to de-interlace fast moving images.
Their automatic 3:2 Pull-down also efficiently restores video from
24fps film. They both have a 4 level vertical flicker filter on PAL
and NTSC outputs as well as a 64Mb double buffered video memory to
prevent image 'tearing'.
Fantastic Flexibility:-
Ideally suited for use with LCD Projectors, CRT Monitors, Projection
TV Systems, Plasma or HDTV Displays, the C2-5000 Series have the facility
for up to 10 inputs and up to 5 outputs. Accommodating Composite Video,
S-Video, YCbCr, YPbPr, SDI (C2-5200 only), HDTV formats and RGBHV
resolutions up to 2048 x 2048, there is also the facility to customise
anything up to 1000 resolutions by pre-defining them. In addition,
there are two outputs for Preview provided on Composite Video and
RGBHV which help facilitate live event switching by enabling you to
select the next input for Preview, before setting it as the Program
output, ensuring accurate and seamless integration.
The design is simple, but effective:-
Each unit is housed in a durable 19" rackmount black metal casing
which has detachable ears to provide the option of using them as a
portable Desktop if preferred. A rotary control selector with a finger
indentation is placed at the front of the unit through which you can
access a simple, logical menu and sub-menus of options which are displayed
on the wide-angled LCD. Ten buttons are situated on the right hand
side of the rotary control switch which can be programmed either via
the rotary control selector or via the CORIO 2 Windows Control Panel
and the RS232 Connector.
You have the ultimate control:-
Individual adjustments for each video input channel, as well as video
output image adjustment facilities, ensure you have optimum control
over the quality of your production. Adjustments are provided for
Colour Saturation, Hue, Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness on CV and
YC inputs and each video input has its own non-volatile memory to
retain settings that you pre-define. Labels can then be inserted within
the ten buttons to identify the programmed settings.
Carefully selected features:-
Images can be frozen on screen during presentations and also flipped
horizontally, vertically or both to produce a mirroring effect. There
is also a horizontal and vertical zoom facility to 1000% with 100%
pan coverage, perfect for a video wall effect and also an image shrink
feature down to 10% with 100% pan coverage. User definable keying
on video outputs is also available to produce Luma and Chromakeying
effects.
What is the difference between the C2-5100 and the C2-5200?
The C2-5200 Universal Scaler provides all the features of the C2-5100,
but also has the benefit of an SDI input and output, as well as a
second SDI input which is provided exclusively as a genlock source.
Consequently, the only other difference is the C2-5200 also has a
more expensive price tag!
