The new internal PCI/ISA version was
released on 31st January 2001
The CORIOgen Eclipse offers high
quality computer to video conversion from virtually any source* to virtually any video
output you need, plus the ability to genlock and overlay on to an existing video signal.
They have all the functionality of the
CORIOscan Select scan convertor (except dual outputs), but with the addition of Composite
Video and S-Video input connectors, high quality genlock circuit with noise cancellation
circuit, digital keyer, video mixer and fader. The units are designed to replace our
earlier VineGen / MultiGen / DeltaScan GL units.

CORIOgen Eclipse PCI/ISA internal card in PCI format
(PCB colour may vary.)
As well as the external version, the unit is
also available as the CORIOgen Eclipse PCI/ISA dual-format card (as shown above) -
where you can simply remove the end-bracket, turn the card through 180 degrees, and
replace the end-bracket to change from one format to another. Designed specifically for system
integration, the card removes the need for external power supplies and greatly reduces
the length of cables usually used. A full PDF data-sheet is now available for this
product here.
The PCI or ISA slots in your computer are used
solely for holding the unit in place - no data or power connections are made to either of
them. This prevents bus signal or timing compatibility issues, and means that the unit can
even be mounted in other types of enclosure.
The internal version takes power from a spare
hard-disk drive connector and is supplied with video breakout cables - so you still have
the same range of signals as the external version. No Remote Control is supplied for the
internal card version - this is an optional extra, and requires a small Infra-Red Receiver Module
(available from Vine) to work. As standard, RS232 is the sole method of control (cable
included for 9-pin D connectors on your PC), using either your own software or Vine's
CORIO Control Panel (included).

Rear of external CORIOgen Eclipse
For both versions (internal and external) the
computer graphics fed into the unit are converted into standard PAL or NTSC video signals,
and overlayed on to the incoming video signal by the mixer. To keep the quality high, at
no point is the incoming video signal decoded - the computer signal is inserted / mixed
into the incoming video signal, without degrading the source picture quality or affecting
sync and subcarrier timing phase.
The units also have Vine's AutoSet facility - this
automatically positions and sizes the computer image. This setting is then saved in
non-volatile memory and is recalled whenever this resolution is used again. Manual
adjustment of the display setting is also available via various control methods.
For the external CORIOgen Eclipse, an easy to use
remote control for control of features is also included, along with On Screen Display. In
addition, the remote control can simulate a Microsoft® Serial Mouse - perfect for
controlling presentations from a distance.
Both versions also feature RS232 control, adjustable
Overscan and Underscan settings, 2x Zoom and Panning, Freeze, and Flicker Reduction
control.
Features for the external CORIOgen Eclipse and
internal CORIOgen Eclipse PCI/ISA include:
- High quality computer to video scan conversion
- Full feature video genlock with overlay
- Overlays and fades between either the Composite Video or
S-Video inputs, and the computer image
- Incoming video picture is not decoded, for optimum picture
quality
- Absolute maximum of 1600x1200 resolution
- 4-line flicker reduction for super-stable image on TV
- Automatic screen adjustment
- 2x Zoom & pan
- No driver software required
- Composite Video, S-Video, RGB outputs (overlay not available
on RGB)
- Loop-back to VGA monitor, even when unit not powered
- NTSC & PAL switchable
- Non-volatile memory saves all settings - so you can make the
unit start-up in a specific mode (eg. Overlay)
- Compatible with very high refresh rates
- Professional image quality - crisp and clear
- Brightness Control - allows video output from the unit to be
adjusted to match other video hardware, such as playback of a video tape.
- RS232 interface for control of unit from your software
The external CORIOgen Eclipse also includes:
- Full-feature infra-red remote control
- "Quick Adjust" buttons for Overscan, Freeze,
Overlay Mode and Fade
- Button Lock feature prevents settings being altered by
accident
- Remote control Lock-out perfect for education and
exhibitions
- On-screen display for ease of use
- Microsoft® Serial Mouse emulation on infra-red remote
control
The CORIOgen Eclipse is the ideal peripheral for
overlaying computer generated text and graphics onto standard TV video signals, with
powerful yet simple to use features. The external version makes the perfect accessory to
your company presentation and video editing set-up, whilst the internal card version is
most suited to system integrators.
